The India women’s hockey team continued their brilliant run of form at the ongoing Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2023. The Sarita Punia-led side outclassed the Japan women in a close match on Tuesday, October 31 to register their fourth straight win in the tournament.

With this 2-1 win over Japan, the India women’s team also assured themselves a semifinal berth. Among the scores, Navneet Kaur striked the first goal after two goalless quarters in the 31 st minute. Sangita Kumari doubled the scoresheet for India in the 47 th minute, while Japan’s lone goal came in the 37 th minute from Kana Urata.

Talking about the Indian women team’s campaign at the Asian Champions Trophy, they continue their unbeaten streak having defeated Thailand, Malaysia, China and now Japan. While they beat Thailand 7-1 in their opener, they got better of Malaysia 5-0, followed by avenging their Asian Game loss against China by beating them 2-1.

Now India women will take on South Korea in the final league game of the tournament on Thursday, November 2.
