Chief Minister of Sikkim Prem Singh Tamang on Wednesday announced an initiative under which inverter sets and batteries will be provided to the students so that their studies are not disrupted due to electricity issues.
Every year, the North-Eastern state grapples with power outages, mainly in the mountainous regions. Sometimes there are no power connections for hours, affecting the learning process and studies of students.
Taking cognizance of the issue, the chief minister announced the scheme to provide inverter sets and batteries to about 16,000 school and college students across the state. This scheme will assist students in increasing their productivity and study hours.
Speaking to the press, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang said “Our main objective is to help the students of Sikkim. There are power outages in the mountains at different times due to various reasons affecting the study and learning of the students.”
“To rectify this problem, we are going to give batteries and inverter sets to 16,000 students to enable students to study peacefully, regardless of any disruptions in the electricity supply,” he further added.
