Ahoax bomb call near the Golden Temple put the Punjab Police on high alert on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. Ten bomb-disposal teams arrived from the police line right away to search the area around the Sri Harmandir Sahib.

Meanwhile, the cyber team traced the mobile number of the caller, following which the police have reportedly detained four people, including three youngsters. They allegedly made a hoax call to the police.

According to police sources, at approximately 1 in the morning, the police received a call claiming that four explosives had been planted close to the Golden Temple. Soon after the delivering the message, the accused ended the call.

The group working in the control room repeatedly called back the accused, but he didn’t answer the phone. The team immediately notified Police Commissioner Naunihal Singh and sprung into action. The whole Punjab was placed on red alert.

Authorities began searching for explosives in critical places. However, until morning, the police had neither found the bomb nor the person who planted it. At five in the morning, it was found that the caller lived in Bansa Wala Bazar near Sri Harmandir Sahib and he had given this information to the police through a stolen mobile.

The police later identified the caller, who was a 20-year-old youth, along with three juveniles. The police are questioning them and their family.
