Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Saturday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for their foreign trips when the country is facing a major economic crisis, as reported by the Dawn.
Imran Khan’s remarks came after PM Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to the United Kingdom (UK) to attend the coronation ceremony of King Charles III while Foreign Minister Bilawal recently visited India to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO)’s Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Goa.
While addressing his party’s rally in Lahore, Khan targeted both Pakistan’s ministers for spending the country’s money on foreign trips amid a huge crisis.
“Pakistan is being humiliated in the world. We ask the question, Bilawal you are touring the entire world but first tell us, before going, do you ask anyone that you’re spending the country’s money on a trip, so what will be the benefit or loss from it?” Khan said
Imran Khan further questioned what benefit they got after visiting India, as reported by Dawn. During the SCO meeting, External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar slammed Pakistan and said that terrorism in all its forms including cross-border terrorism must be stopped.
“We firmly believe that there can be no justification for terrorism and it must be stopped in all its forms and manifestations, including cross-border terrorism,” Jaishankar said.
Jaishankar also said that Pakistan supported terrorists in Kashmir, and the country’s foreign minister’s position was ‘found out and called out.’
“As a promoter, justifier and a spokesperson of a terrorism industry, which is the mainstay of Pakistan, his positions were called out and they were countered including at the SCO meeting itself,” Jaishankar said.
However, Bilawal Bhutto called his visit to India to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Foreign Ministers’ Summit a ‘success’ as he advocated his country’s case on the soil of India. He also said that his visit to India helped to negate the view that every Muslim was a terrorist.
