Monsoon to hit Telangana only by June 15 due to emerging cyclone in Arabian Sea: IMD

The onset of monsoon is delayed in Telangana and will only hit the state around June 15 owing to an emerging cyclone in the Arabian Sea, the India Meteorological Department (IMD)

It was previously predicted that the monsoon will hit the state around June 10 or 11.

The intensification of the cyclone may bring some thundershowers in parts of south Telangana around June 10 but after that, moisture will be pulled away from the state temporarily, the IMD said.

Meanwhile, temperatures are expected to rise in the state with several places recording 40°C to 45°C across the state for the next two days. This is due to the delay in monsoon and winds from western parts of the country.

There is a possibility of heatwave in Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts today while heatwave like conditions will prevail in Adilabad, Komaram Bhim, Mancherial districts over the next two days.

Khammam recorded the highest maximum temperature on Wednesday with 43.4°C. Temporary relief may be possible with light rain and thundershowers at several places across the state.
