Meta is not done with layoffs, likely to fire 6,000 more employees next week

Meta is all set to start the latest round of layoffs as the company’s president of global affairs, Nick Clegg, has informed the same to employees and others during a company-wide meeting, according to details obtained by Vox.

This is not surprising considering Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently announced that the next round of layoffs will be held in May 2023. Now, more details about the same have been leaked online before the official announcement.

The cited source reported that as many as 6,000 employees will be fired from Meta starting next week. The company sacked 11,000 workers in November and announced 10,000 job cuts in March 2023. Meta, which is the parent company of Facebook, has eliminated 4,000 employees, which means that 6,000 more people are left in the list who will be asked to leave in May this year.

“The third wave is going to happen next week. That affects everybody in the biz teams, including in my orgs,” Clegg said. “It’s just a time of great anxiety and uncertainty. … I wish I could have some easy way of providing solace or comfort. It is uncertain. And actually, it’s really increased my admiration for the way that everyone – notwithstanding that uncertainty – you’re just displaying such resilience and professionalism,” he added.
