Aussie spinner Adam Zampa was adjudged the Player of the Match for his four-wicket haul. Australian batters Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis also played an important role in the team’s win and played innings of 52 and 58 runs respectively.

Australian cricket team while chasing down 210 runs didn’t start off well and lost opener David Warner in the fourth over of the innings. Warner was given out lbw by the on-field umpire Chris Gaffaney on the bowling of Sri Lanka pacer Dishan Madushanka for a score of 11 runs. However, Warner didn’t agree to the umpire’s decision and asked for a DRS. In the replay, it was found that the ball was pitching in line and was clipping the stumps as per the umpire’s call. Australia didn’t lose the review but as the umpire had given Warner out, he had to walk back to the dressing room. David Warner was not happy with the umpire’s decision and walked back to the dressing room furiously.

After Australia was able to register their first win in the ODI World Cup 2023 against Sri Lanka, the five-time champions will now play against Pakistan in their next match. Pakistan will come into the match after a humiliating defeat against India and will be under a lot of pressure while facing the Aussies.
