In Bengaluru, crimes among live-in partners and married couples are on the rise. Seven cases of murder have been reported in the last eight months.

In most cases, the victims were murdered by their live-in partners or ex-boyfriends or girlfriends. Here is the list of crimes that took place in the last eight months:



Case 1 – Ashok Nagar police station limits



A woman was murdered by her live-in partner after an argument about a birthday gift. In February this year, accused Nadeem Pasha murdered Kausar Mubeena by stabbing her three times in the neck. Mubeena was divorced and had a daughter while Pasha worked as a mechanic.

Case 2 – Amruthalli police station limits



The accused Victor killed Suleman over suspicion that the latter had an affair with the former’s girlfriend. Victor was in a live-in relationship with a woman.



Case 3 – Gnana Bharathi police station



A man named Srikanth was murdered by his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend Arun Kumar. The woman was earlier in a live-in relationship with Srikanth but she started dating Arun Kumar later. Srikanth was reportedly killed for calling his ex-girlfriend multiple times. The accused was arrested by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police.


Case 4 – Parappana Agrahara police station limits



A woman was murdered by her live-in partner for asking him to marry her. Victim Sunitha and accused Prashanth were in a live-in relationship for over three years. Prashanth killed her when she asked him to marry her, according to the police.

Case 5 – Ramamurthy Nagar police station limits



A man killed his live-in partner over suspicion that she had an affair. Victim Krishna Kumari and the accused Santosh were in a live-in relationship. Krishna Kumari, who was from Nepal, was hacked to death with a metal rod by Santosh after an argument broke out between the two.

Case 6 – Jivan Bheemanagar police station limits



In June, a man strangled his former live-in partner to death in Jivan Bhima Nagar police station limits in Bengaluru. Victim Akansha was from Hyderabad and accused Arpit is from Delhi. They were in a live-in relationship after they met while working together in a firm. The victim moved to Bengaluru after she changed her job. Arpit had come to visit Akanksha in Bengaluru when the incident happened.

Case 7 – Basaveshwar Nagar Police Station limits



A woman was murdered by her husband over suspicion of having an affair. The accused Ayyappa stabbed his wife Nagarathna to death in June this year. Ayyappa suspected that Nagaratha was having an extramarital affair with a relative.
