Three people died and two others suffered severe burn injuries in a blast at a firecracker godown at Kovvakolli village in Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati district on Thursday.
Five people were working at the firecracker godown at the time of the blast. While three died on the spot, two others injured were shifted to hospital, said police.
The deceased were identified as Edu Kondalu, 40, Sankaraiah, 32 and Nagendra, 25, reported the Times of India.
The injured were reportedly shifted to a hospital in Srikalahasti, from where they were referred to SVR government general hospital in Tirupati.
Fire tenders who had rushed to the spot soon after receiving information about the incident had doused the flames in three hours.
However, the crackers reportedly continued to burst, which made it challenging for the fire brigade team to carry out rescue operations.
Meanwhile, the reason for the fire was yet to be known.
